Principal's Message
RESPECT
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12
Respect is not merely a rule to follow, it's a guiding principle that shapes the very fabric of our school community. As you are aware, Respect was adopted as a core value of St Bede’s in 2023. It's about recognising the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, regardless of differences in background, beliefs, or abilities.
In our classrooms and on the playground, respect must always be our compass. It's reflected in the way we speak to one another, the way we listen, the way we work and the way we engage. When we respect each other, we create an environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and supported. St Bede’s students show an enormous amount of respect for each other.
Our Walk in Love & Peace Awards are presented each week in 2024. These awards are presented to one student from each class that lives and demonstrates our school values.
Respect is the cornerstone of our interactions, guiding us to treat others as we would like to be treated. In Matthew 7:12, we find this timeless principle: "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." Let's embody this wisdom daily, extending kindness, empathy, and understanding to all. Together, let's continue to cultivate a culture of respect that enriches our school community and beyond.
Just as these virtues are encouraged in the Bible, we encourage our students to embrace them in their daily lives. Respect means valuing each person's uniqueness, listening attentively, and treating others with kindness and empathy.
At St Bede’s, we show respect when:
- We talk and care for each other
- We sit and have lunch together
- We listen to whoever is speaking
- We allow everyone to learn
- We invite people to join in games
- Spend time with our buddies
- We follow the rules
- We listen to our teachers and our parents
Regards
Andrew
