We are excited to welcome our newest learners to Kindergarten in 2026! 

First Day of Kindergarten 
Kindergarten will begin on Monday 2 February 2026.  School commences at 9:00am and concludes at 3:10pm. 

Please note, this is a slightly longer day than the Kindy Set Go sessions your child has experienced. The first week will run for four full days (Wednesday rest day). 

Rest Days in February 2026 

We know that our youngest students can become quite tired as they settle into full-time schooling, especially during the warmer summer weeks. To support their wellbeing and provide time for staff to meet with families and conduct initial assessments, rest days will be held on the following Wednesdays: 

• Wednesday 4 February 2026 

• Wednesday 11 February 2026 

• Wednesday 18 February 2026 

• Wednesday 25 February 2026 

On these days, your child will not attend school. Instead, families will be scheduled for a short meeting and assessment session. More information, including booking details, will be shared closer to the start of the school year. 

Preparing Your Child for Rest Days 

In the lead up to school, you may wish to talk with your child about the purpose of rest days and how they help children grow and learn. Some helpful conversation starters include: 

1. Talk about why rest days are important. They help children recharge and stay happy at school. 

1. Discuss how learning can make our brains and bodies feel tired, especially when we’re trying new things. 

1. Make connections to summer fatigue. "We often feel extra tired on hot days." 
2. Practice rest time over the Christmas holidays. Create calm, quiet breaks during the day so they become familiar with downtime.
