St Vinnies Winter Appeal

Thank you to everyone who has kindly and generously donated to our school’s Vinnies Winter Appeal.

It’s not too late to bring in your family’s donations! We will continue to accept donations until next Thursday, the 3rd of July. Here are the ideas for each grade and the donations:

• K, 1, 2: Rough Sleeping Essentials: jackets, jumpers, gloves, sleeping bags, warm socks, scarves, blankets, sleeping mats (all donations MUST be new items).
• Year 3 and 4: Pantry Essentials: long life milks, cereals, rolled and quick oats, spread, tinned foods, jar foods, baking goods, dry pet foods, muesli bars, crackers, popcorn, biscuits, tea and coffee, juice, rice, pasta, non-perishable soups (just a few ideas!).
• Year 5 and 6: hygiene essentials: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, moisturiser, hairbrush, face washers, toiletries bag, body wash, shaving foam, shampoo & conditioner, sanitary products.

Did you know that our donations will mostly go directly to the St Vinnies initiative called the Night Patrol Van? You may have seen vans in and around the city center and other community locations. This initiative was founded in August 2001 and aims to engage with companions on the streets at night, to offer friendship, support and compassion while upholding dignity.

In Canberra, the program operates two vans and is staffed by over 300 volunteers. Each vehicle stops at 4 scheduled locations, 364 nights of the year. Companions are provided with light refreshments and can access clothing, blankets and sleeping bags and hygiene items.

How great is it knowing that our school community is supporting such an important initiative within our local community!

Sacrament News

Preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation has begun and students in Year 3, 4, 5, and 6 are excited about learning how God’s forgiveness is everlasting - we just need to ask for it.

Please keep all the students and their families, who are preparing for the sacraments, in your prayers.
