FAMILIES
“Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12
It is terrific to be a part of a loving family where each member is truly valued. It gives a wonderful sense of support, security and encouragement. As parents, we cater for the individual needs of each child, value individuality and love unconditionally. Each member of the family gains a sense of comfort by knowing the routines, roles and responsibilities of each other. From time to time, there is tension and relationships are strained.
St Bede’s Primary School is no different. Each and every student is a part of a loving family where each member is valued. The needs of each student are catered for, and individuality respected. Each student understands their role of being a member of the St Bede’s family and relationships can be tested, especially at the end of each term. Our students are tolerant, inclusive, care for each other and restore relationships where needed.
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is an important group of people who look after the students of St Bede’s and lead many initiatives. Congratulations to the students who were elected to the SRC. They will receive their badges as our morning assembly on Wednesday 27 April.

Thank you to all involved in organising a terrific Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. The weather held out and an enjoyable time was had by all. This was an opportunity for parents to connect with parents and children to have fun. Our students, your children, showed care for each other as they shared eggs and ensured all were enjoying themselves. These were truly some very special moments that epitomise the values instilled in St Bede’s students.
As a Catholic school, we honour the role of the family in raising and nurturing children. At St Bede’s one key goal is to build a strong partnership between family and school in the area of education. This relationship becomes vibrant and not only supports our children, but it also provides them with a sound platform from which to test their own understanding of the world and test new ideas. Through a strong home/school partnership an ideal framework for a growth mindset is established; where stepping out and trying something new is welcomed and fear of failure becomes greatly diminished. Please reach out regularly to your child’s teacher, connect and talk about your child.
The importance of parent partnership in education is something that should never be undervalued. I would like to acknowledge the contribution of each school family; each and every parent, child, teacher, support worker and community member that contributes to St Bede’s Primary School. Thank you to the people who assist our students, help out in the school canteen, coach the many sporting teams or serve on the P & F or School Board. Thank you for your time and commitment to our school community.
Currently, new families are coming to St Bede’s and participating in enrolment interviews for Kindergarten 2023. I welcome them to the St Bede’s Family and look forward to their contribution to the school community in future years. Please reach out and encourage families to enrol their school aged children at St Bede’s.
As we continue to roll out Compass and the Parent Portal, please remember to download the app and login when invited. Compass will be our primary method of communication from the commencement of Term 2. This will streamline information sharing and limit the number of platforms. Please reach out if you require support.
Blessings to you and your family this Easter. Please take advantage of this time by reconnecting as a family. I encourage you to attend mass this Easter and celebrate the risen Christ on Easter Sunday.
Stay safe
