CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
“Send Out Your Light and Your Truth, Let Them Lead Me” Psalm 43:3
It is terrific that we can celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2022 by welcoming families into our great school. This week we have our Open Day for prospective kindergarten students, Mother’s Day celebrations and our Athletics Carnival.
Being a part of a Catholic system allows St Bede’s to illustrate our holistic approach to educating children who personify Catholic values and serve their communities. At St Bede’s, we are extremely fortunate to have strong connections with Secondary Colleges creating a complete K-12 Catholic education pathway.
Catholic Schools Week highlights the faith based nature of our Catholic schools while emphasising our inclusiveness – that all are welcome. Catholic Schools are places where we strive for all to be engaged in faith, inspire the mind and build strong communities. I am proud to say that St Bede’s does this so well!
Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate our school community. Thank you to the hard working volunteers who gave of their time on the weekend to improve our school environment. We also thank those who supported at the Athletics Carnival. We are appreciative of your efforts.
Catholic Schools Week is also an opportunity to celebrate our students and their youth. As part of a Catholic community St Bede’s is called to celebrate the gifts and diversity of all its members, inspire the minds and spirit of all those in our midst and help shape the young people to care for and serve those most in need.
Pope Francis at the World Youth Day 2019 final Mass, reflected on the importance of young people for society. He said their gifts are not reserved only for tomorrow. Young people, he said, “are the today for tomorrow. They are not ‘in the meantime’, but are the ‘today’, the ‘now’, of the Church and the world.” To inspire young people of today Catholic Schools are places that embrace their joyful presence and provide a community where young people can personally encounter God through the nurturing words and actions of others.
During Catholic Schools Week this year all people involved in the endeavour of Catholic Education are invited to consider how they are being called to shine their light on and lead others to the truth, beauty and goodness of God. I would like to thank the staff of St Bede’s for their commitment to Catholic education and the important vocation of educating the children of St Bede’s Primary School.
A Prayer for Catholic Schools Week
God, thank you, for the blessing of Catholic Schools.
Help our school to grow in Faith, Hope and Love.
Jesus, thank you, for the blessing of all those who work in Catholic Schools.
Help our school staff to always be your face to those they encounter.
Holy Spirit, thank you for the blessing of the families, children and parents who are part of Catholic Schools.
Help our school families, children and parents to grow in understanding of the world and grant them the strength to make right choices when the world challenges what is right.
Amen.
Andrew
It has been a busy but great start to term 2!
Winter sports are back in action with our St Bedes netball teams having their first games last weekend. These teams are managed and coached by St Bede’s parent volunteers and we are grateful for all the work that goes on behind the scenes to run our very successful netball program.
We also held our annual Open Week Working Bee last Sunday and had some of our wonderful workers pitching in to move over 30 cubic metres of mulch onto garden beds around the school along with lots of weeding and tidying to get our school ready for prospective families to visit.
A massive thanks to all the families who took time out of their Sunday afternoon to help out and a special mention to one of our Tuckshop ladies, Sarah, for organising and cooking food for the volunteers.
With the change of uniform, our new parent volunteer Zoe has been busy in the uniform boutique ensuring all of our kids are clothed in the correct uniform. Thank you Zoe.
We have some exciting things happening in the P&F space and we look forward to welcoming any new or existing parents to our Term 2 P&F meeting on Tuesday 24th May in the school library.
Did you know we have a P&F run Instagram page? Follow us @stbedesprimary and thank you to Jenny Tiffen who is our Instagram queen!
