Hello everyone!

It is me again, looking for some support for our Catholic Mission Event fundraiser. We are raising funds for our friends in Catholic Mission but don’t forget that we are also splitting the funds raised to go towards the faith formation event for our students this term. So, the more you spend, the better resourced we will be for this St Bede’s event.

So that everyone is looking fabulous (and silly) on our silly sock day, we have some fun socks available for purchase. We will accept cash or just simply order via QKR. Some examples of the silly socks on offer are below. Any questions, just email Nikki.dwyer@cg.catholic.edu.au.

Sock prices are $6 per pair, or for $84, you can have an entire box of silly socks for the whole family. If you have not yet placed an order you can do so via QKR, and I will order the socks we need. Orders close 21^st October, orders placed after this time will not be filled.

We have had a very busy 2 weeks with enrolment meetings. You will remember that I set a collective community target of 12 more enrolments. We have currently received 8 enrolments for 2022/23.  Thank you to all parents who have given recommendations to new families.

We are about to comemnce a short enrolment campaign that is targeting Kindergarten for 2023. Please reach out to parents with Kinder age children and invite them to "just come for a look". We also have a few remaining places in other grades.

We have had a good number of students to commence in Term 4. It is pleasing to see enrolments across numerous grades. I extend a very special welcome to our newest St Bede's families. Welcome to our new students:

Dress: Casual, comfortable, sensible clothes

Recess: Students bring their recess

Lunch: Dominos pizza will be provided, and some GF options will be provided (if your child does not eat pizza, please just send a packed lunch with them on the day)

About the day: Our whole school will be involved in a student faith formation day. The focus of this day is inspired by our theme Light Shines in the Night, based on The Christmas Story. Children will be in mixed-class groups for the day. The Nativity is the central focus of the day with opportunities for students to experience God through scripture, song, poetry, and other creative outlets. The hall will be set up as a sacred space, and each group will have an opportunity to visit this space for a liturgy or mass with Fr Trenton during the day.

The teachers and staff look forward to this day and have spent time together planning for their students’ experience. We will combine our talents on the day to make it an enjoyable experience for all students. It is our aim that the day provides students with an opportunity for students to encounter Jesus through story, symbol and song.

During the holidays there were a number of projects taking place. Over the next few newsletters, we will share photographs of the different spaces and outline how this benefits the students of St Bede's.

The administration area was completed during the break. In the past 6 months the administration area has received new carpet, paint, pinboard, lighting, blinds, signage and cabinetry added. This area includes a new sickbay, meeting room and offices. We now have a lovely modern administration block for staff, parents, visitors and students to appreciate.

I would like to thank Allora projects and the contractors who undertook this work. I also extend our appreciate to Catholic Education for funding the majority of this refurbishment.

Congratulations to Nellie Thorne who won the 8-11years Young Art Competition run by the Queanbeyan Art Society. Nellies mixed media piece was called 'Flying Cows'. What a wonderful achievement!

As a part of our refurbishment, St Bede's has received 2 brand new 130L Husky bar fridges. They are not suitable for the intended purpose and unfortunately cannot be returned. If you are interested in purchasing 1 or both of these wonderful fridges please email andrew.casey@cg.catholic.edu.au
