LEADERSHIP
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."
1 Timothy 4:12
As a Catholic primary school, we believe that instilling strong leadership skills in our students is vital to their personal growth and development. At St Bede’s we have leadership opportunities for our senior students, however, we believe that all students can lead regardless of their age.
Term 1 has been a particularly exciting term for us as we have been celebrating student leadership in our school. Our student leaders have been shining examples of the kind of leadership we hope to instill in all of our students.
Our students have relished a variety of leadership opportunities and have represented our school at events, including the school swimming carnival, netball days, Year 6 leaders, Year 5/6 buddies and the SRC, where they demonstrated outstanding leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork. They have also been involved in conversations about fundraising initiatives for our school, and presenting quotes and dances as a part of the Social Justice Action Group. Our leaders show a genuine commitment to serving others demonstrate a deep understanding of the values and ethos of our school.
This scripture verse emphasizes the idea that leadership is not limited by age or experience, but rather by one's character and actions. Timothy, a young leader in the early church, was encouraged by the apostle Paul to set an example for others by living a life of integrity and faithfulness.
As leaders, we are called to lead by example, demonstrating the qualities of love, faith, and compassion in all that we do. We should strive to be a positive influence on those around us, inspiring them to follow our example and to grow in their own leadership abilities.
We are reminded that leadership is not just about what we say, but also about how we act. Our conduct and behaviour should align with our values and beliefs, reflecting the character of Christ in all that we do.
As parents and guardians, you can be proud of your children's accomplishments and leadership skills. We are confident that these skills will continue to serve them well throughout their years at St Bede’s and assist each person and how they interact with others.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to our staff, who have worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for our students to develop their leadership skills. We believe that by nurturing these skills, we are helping to create responsible and ethical leaders for the future.
Regards,
Andrew

School Fees due Friday 10 March
Just a gentle reminder that school fees are due to be paid by Friday 10 March (except for those families on an arrangement with the school such as paying by regular instalments and/or a fee remission). There are quite a few families that in arrears with their fees. We urge parents who are experiencing difficulty in meeting their school fee commitment to contact the school ASAP if they have not already done so. As always, any conversations regarding fees are held in the strictest confidence.
Due to school photos and the athletics carnival next week, there will be some uniform changes as noted in the family memo below.
School photos will be held on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 March so ALL STUDENTS should be in FULL SUMMER UNIFORM on both days.
The athletics carnival will be held on Thursday 16 March so ALL STUDENTS should be in SPORTS UNIFORM on that day.
Which Socks Should I Wear & Free Dress Rules
There has been some confusion regarding what colour socks students should be wearing with which uniform.
Students should wear white socks with the sports uniform. If girls are wearing the summer dress they should wear white socks also. If students are wearing the sky blue polo shirt with navy blue shorts, they should be in navy blue socks.
We have noticed that some students are not dressing correctly on uniform free days. Please make sure your child's shoulders are covered i.e. no 'spaghetti straps' on dresses and that they are wearing enclosed shoes e.g. no thongs. The Australian sun is very hot and we would hate to see children sunburnt and thongs are an OH&S issue.
