BE KIND
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” - Colossians 3:12
In a world that often feels busy and overwhelming, our school community is a shining beacon of compassion, empathy, positivity and kindness. At St Bede’s we value kindness. This shines through in how we treat others and our connection with each other. Our school has been buzzing with acts of kindness, big and small. From helping a friend with their homework, to holding the door open for someone, to offering words of encouragement, our students are spreading kindness in every corner of our school. Just today we had a Kindergarten student spend her tooth fairy money on a coffee for her teacher. The successful Winter Appeal is a terrific illustration of the kindness of our whole school community as is the upcoming Gala Dinner.
Kindness is like a ripple in a pond – it starts with one small act and spreads outward, touching the lives of everyone it reaches. St Bede’s has a positive school environment that encourages open communication, cooperation, and a willingness to help one another. When we're kind, we create a place where everyone can thrive.
The same cannot be said about the times where we are not spreading kindness. This can create a negative ripple that impacts badly on communities. At St Bede’s, we partner with parents to model and set expectations that value kindness as the norm. Should a moment of unkindness creep in, we identify, acknowledge and work to repair the damaged relationship through restorative practices and conversation.
In 2 of the verses preceding this scripture passage, Paul listed five ways of life that Christians should avoid. In this verse, he offers five ways of life that Christians should follow. Kindness can be translated as "moral goodness or integrity." The term refers to how a person treats others. Kindness is one of the fruits of the Spirit. Jesus exemplified this quality throughout His life, showing compassion to the marginalised, healing the sick, and forgiving those who wronged Him.
Let's strive to live out kindness in our daily lives, following the example of Christ and reflecting God's love to those around us. Whether through small acts of compassion or grand gestures, kindness is a beautiful way to make the world a better place.

Andrew
First Eucharist
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! Our Year 3 and 4 students are about to embark on a sacred journey as they prepare to receive their First Eucharist. This significant event in their spiritual growth is a testament to their faith, commitment, and the values we hold dear here at St Bede’s.
On Wednesday, August 16th, we will come together as a close-knit community at St Christopher’s Cathedral to celebrate a special Mass where our Year 3 and 4 students will receive their First Eucharist. This momentous occasion marks a pivotal step in their faith journey and signifies their initiation into the sacramental life of the Church. We, as parents and educators, have watched them grow not only academically but also spiritually, and we couldn't be prouder of the young individuals they are becoming.
It is our great privilege to announce that Archbishop Christopher Prowse will be presiding over the Mass, imparting his blessings and wisdom upon our young communicants. His presence adds an extra layer of sanctity to the occasion and underscores the importance of this milestone for our students. Archbishop Prowse's dedication to nurturing the faith of the next generation is truly inspiring, and we are deeply honoured to have him guide our children through this significant rite of passage.
I would like to thank our wonderful parents for their heartfelt contributions during our family sessions and our classroom teachers Darren Roberts, Lisa Wright, and Levi Heffernan for preparing and supporting these students ready to make their First Eucharist.
Assumption Mass
We extend an invitation to all parents and family members to join us in this celebration of Mass. Your presence will enhance the sense of community and unity that defines St Bede’s. The Mass will take place in our school's hall at 12pm on Tuesday, August 15th. We are blessed as the archbishop will also be presiding over this Mass for us next week.
Let us come together as a community to support, cherish, and celebrate the Assumption Mass. Thank you to Haley Stonham, Ben Macintyre, and Year 1 Gold for preparing this Mass.
