Kindergarten enrolment numbers for 2025 are looking very good at this stage of the year. We already have enough students for 1 Kindergarten class. Parents are asked to talk about St Bede's to their friends and workmates, and invite them to visit our great school. Bookings can be easily made through our school website.
Parents with school aged children are asked to complete an enrolment form for 2025. The form is now live and we are open for enrolments.
If there are interested friends with children in other grades, please ask them to reach out and make an appointment to talk about how we might be able to assist in a smooth transition. Please note that there are limited places available in Grades 1 - 6.
Pick up and drop off (safety message)
Parents and students are reminded to please be safe and responsible during pick up and drop off times. Students have been reminded through our morning assembly of the importance of remaining safe and following safety routines.
Main Carpark
Parents who drop or collect children via the main carpark should park in a designated car park and transition to and from school using the paved pathway. This will ensure that students are not crossing the driveway to enter or leave school.
Bottom Carpark (gravel carpark at front of school)
Parents who drop or collect children via this carpark should park safely and escort children to the footpath located near the entry of the carpark. The concrete pathway reaches the access gate near the basketball court. Again, this will ensure that students are not crossing busy roads or driveways.
Thank you for ensuring the safety of our whole school community.
St Bede's has advertised a groundskeeper role. This job is currently posted on the Catholic Education Canberra & Goulburn Website under employment opportunities. If you are interested or know of anyone interested in this type of role, please submit an application.
This is a part time role of approximately 8.5 hours per week. The exciting part of this new role is that the successful candidate will be able to purchase new equipment.
St Bede's Primary Schools aims to have up to date technology to provide further learning opportunities for our students. In the past 2 years, we have replaced all ipads, teacher laptops, staff desktops and monitors, interactive screens, photocopiers and introduced Chromebooks.
This term we have purchased four new interactive screens for classrooms. We aim to replace the final interactive screens later in 2024 or early 2025.
We have also purchased three 3D printers for STEM. These printers will enable students to design and make items that link directly to their learning in STEM with Mr Mac. Thank you to Mr Mac for leading STEM in our school and engaging students in weekly STEM lessons.
New soap dispensers have been installed at St Bede's. All bathrooms have received electronic dispensers that work by sensor. We continue to focus on hygiene and handwashing after bathrooms breaks. There is currently a slight sensor issue that will be rectified in the very near future.
I thank Mr Paul Walker for installing these dispensers across our school.
Did you know that all teachers and Classroom Support Assistants receive coaching to improve our practice?
Our teachers have been a part of a coaching program that was implemented in 2023. This program involved our Instructional Coaches, Mrs Fox and Mrs Dwyer, observing teachers and providing regular feedback to improve our lesson delivery.
In 2024, Mrs Fox and Mrs Dwyer are completing a coaching certificate that involves a combination of online learning, assessments and intensive workshops. We are very lucky to have such wonderful coaches.
This year our Classroom Support Assistant have commenced observations and are taking part in a coaching program that focuses on continuous improvement. Mrs Judy Elliott is the Instructional Coach leading this program.
