Principal's Message- Together we thrive.
GETHER WE THRIVE
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17
As we continue our journey together, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible partnership between home and school that makes our community so special.
One of the most beautiful aspects of our school is the spirit of collaboration that permeates every aspect of our community. From parent-teacher meetings to volunteering in the athletics carnival, your involvement plays a vital role in creating a nurturing environment where our students can flourish.
Our students are also wonderful examples of teamwork and working together. Whether it's collaborating on group projects, undertaking sports training, helping each other understand a tricky concept, or simply being there for a friend in need, our students consistently demonstrate the incredible strength that comes from working together. We continue to foster this spirit of collaboration.
At St Bede’s, we also recognise the importance of fostering independence in our students. As they grow and learn, it's essential for them to develop the skills and confidence to tackle challenges on their own. Currently, Year 5 and 6 students are being challenged by writing Rostrum speeches, while Kindergarten students have received their first home readers. By encouraging independence both at home and in the classroom, we empower our students to become resilient and responsible citizens.
I am continually inspired by the incredible achievements of our students, both academically and personally. In 2024, our students receive awards on a regular basis to acknowledge achievement. These are handed out in class on any given day. Whether it's a fantastic spelling result, hard work, or acts of kindness and compassion towards one another, our students never cease to amaze me. These achievements are a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the support of our parents, and the hard work of our students themselves.
As we think about the power of collaboration and independence, as the scripture reference above suggests, we sharpen and support each other in our community, we also help our children sharpen their skills and abilities, preparing them for success in the future.
As we move forward, let us all continue to work together and foster independence in our children.
Regards
Andrew
During the month of May, the traditional enrolment window for Catholic schools, parents are asked to continue to refer our wonderful school to other parents. We are still trying to achieve 2 Kindergarten classes for 2025.
If you have friends that reside in Canberra, please ask them to consider St Bede's by inviting them to book a tour to experience St Bede's.
Please take up the challenge by reaching out to someone you know this weekend!
Staff Professional Learning-Queensland School Visit
At St Bede's, we believe in the power of continuous growth and learning, not just for our students, but for our dedicated staff as well. This week a group of 5 teachers and classroom assistants had the opportunity to travel to Queensland to visit another school to observe and learn. We will also be sending an additional 5 staff in 2 weeks time.
Investing in our staff's professional learning is vital to ensuring that we provide the best possible education for your children. By expanding their knowledge, skills, and perspectives, our teachers are better equipped to create engaging and enriching learning experiences in the classroom.
During their visit, our teachers had the chance to observe teaching practices relating to the Science of Learning, collaborate with colleagues from other schools, and gain fresh insights into effective teaching methods. They returned inspired and energised, ready to implement new ideas and strategies that will benefit our students.
I would like to thank our staff for the commitment to lerning and our students.
