Principal's Message- Responsibility
FOSTERING RESPONSIBILITY IN OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” Proverbs 16:3
It fills my heart with immense pride to witness a wonderful demonstration of responsibility at St Bede’s. Responsibility is not merely a trait we aspire to instil in our students, but it is a cornerstone of our school's values, interwoven with respect and resilience.
In every classroom, in our playground, and in every interaction, our students embody responsibility in various ways. From the diligent completion of work to the compassionate care shown towards other students in need, their actions speak volumes about their commitment to our shared values.
We see responsibility reflected in our students when they take ownership of their actions, whether it's admitting mistakes or proactively seeking solutions to challenges. For instance, I recently observed a group of students picking up litter during recess and lunch, showcasing their commitment to maintaining a clean school environment. Additionally, our Year 6 students organised and conducted activities at the Fete to celebrate the feast day of St Bede’s for our student community. This is a testament to their sense of responsibility towards our school and the broader community.
The scripture reference from Proverbs underscores the importance of accountability and dedication in all our endeavours. Just as our students commit themselves to their tasks and responsibilities, they also learn the value of entrusting their efforts to a higher purpose, fostering a sense of responsibility grounded in faith and humility.
Let us continue to nurture and celebrate the culture of responsibility at St Bede’s, guiding our students to become respectful, responsible and resilient members of society.
Regards
Andrew
Just a quick heads up to make sure your child/ren are wearing the correct school uniform. We love seeing our students looking sharp and representing our school when they are in public. Students should now be wearing their Winter school uniform.
Areas to focus:
- Correct style of school shoe (black school shoe) no joggers.
- Long pants and correct elements of the Winter Uniform.
- In June and July hats are optional, however, we still advise to wear a hat.
- Sports uniform- shorts can be worn on sports days.
- Correct coloured socks.
Thanks for your help in keeping our school community looking fantastic!
On Wednesday, each child placed a hand to create our St Bede’s Sea of Hands display as a way to participate in and show our growing knowledge of the importance of Reconciliation Week. The sea of hands looks amazing – and is a powerful symbol of solidarity. What does solidarity mean? Well, Solidarity is one of Catholic Social Teachings and helps us all to remember that ALL people are part of one big human family. Because of this, we should all do what we can to make life better for EVERYONE. Sometimes this is hard, or we feel like we can’t possibly make any difference and children often feel this way. Through the Social Justice teaching of solidarity, we can make decisions and think of actions that we can do to make a difference.
So, the Sea of Hands has been a symbol of Solidarity for around 25 years with First Nations Peoples. The first installation was in 1997 in solidarity for Native Title and was installed on the lawns of Parliament House. Today, it has become a symbol of RECONCILATION, RIGHTS and RESPECT.
