FEEDBACK
“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.”
Proverbs 19:20
Feedback is everywhere in today’s world. From students and teachers receiving feedback to parents and businesses- it is everywhere! With social media and email, feedback can almost be instant.
This week parents were given feedback about their children's learning journey via Parent Teacher Conferences and will soon receive student reports. This is one method of feedback from St Bede’s. Thank you to the teachers who invested so heavily in preparing for conferences and in the production of the school reports. Thank you to the parents who made appointments to discuss the learning of your children. The conferences, whilst focussing on student learning, are also an opportunity for parents to provide feedback to teachers from a unique perspective. Conferences need to be prioritised and become a part of a much larger learning conversation.
Teachers also receive feedback. Our teachers are working with Mrs Fox and Mrs Dwyer as coaches as we continue to implement Catalyst and High Impact Teaching Practices across all learning areas.
At St Bede’s the quality of lessons and the learning program is of a high quality. Every 5 years each school undergoes a review and receives feedback on a whole range of matters. This was undertaken by Catholic Education and we are eagerly awaiting our most recent review with feedback. This provides an agenda of continuous improvement.
As you are aware, parents and students are invited to provide feedback in relation to St Bede’s Primary School via surveys. You will receive emails inviting you for your feedback next term. I am always pleasantly surprised when parents email me to provide feedback about how happy they are with St Bede’s, their child’s teacher and the change in their child. Thank you to those who take the opportunity to provide honest, constructive feedback. Additionally, if you feel you would like to meet to offer any feedback, please make an appointment to come and see me.
The scripture above offers some wisdom in relation to feedback. It really simplifies the purpose of feedback. Our hearts need to be open to feedback, we need to listen to feedback so we can gain. It also indicates that feedback is future focussed. It is about continuous improvement and improving the future in some way. That being said, what is not present in the scripture message is that feedback needs to be constructive and of good quality. In short, the better the quality of feedback the better the feedback.
Have a wonderful final week and a safe holiday period. We look forward to seeing all of our wonderful students back on Tuesday 23 July.
Regards
Andrew
NAIDOC Liturgy next Friday 5 July 2024
A Liturgy will be held next Friday 5 July from 12.45pm - 1.30pm at the school hall to mark National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week.
NAIDOC Week celebrations will be held across the country from 7-14 July 2024 to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
We are excited to announce the resumption of our parent representation in the form of the St Bede's Primary School Community Council after a longer than expected delay in establishing our new structure. As we move forward, we eagerly anticipate re-engaging with parents in meaningful ways to enhance our school.
Your participation and input are invaluable to us as we work together to support our students and address the needs of our community. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming meetings and opportunities to get involved. We look forward to collaborating with you to create a positive impact.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school!
Winter Woolies – The Vinnies Winter Appeal
It is that time of year again where we raise awareness for The Vinnies Winter Appeal to help support those that are less fortunate in our community.
The Vinnies Winter Appeal and Essential Packs allow us to provide services and material aid for our companions who are experiencing homelessness or financial hardship. With your support, we as a school can help support Vinnies in continually offering a “Hand Up” to the people in our community who are experiencing disadvantage.
Each stage will have different items to donate. Donation Guides Below:
Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2: Pantry Essentials (non-perishables)
Year 3 and Year 4: Rough Sleeping Essentials (blankets, sleeping bags, beanies and scarves, woollen socks)
Year 5 and Year 6: Hygiene Essentials (deodorant, toothpaste, personal hygiene products).
All items will be collected in the front office. If you would prefer to make a monetary donation, you can access this through Qkr!.
St Vincent de Paul volunteers will be coming to collect our donations on Thursday 4th July. Please ensure that your donations are delivered to the office before lunch.
