Mitch Tambo
Next Tuesday, our school will be welcoming proud Gamilaraay man, Mitch Tambo and Voice of Lele to St Bede’s. The whole school will enjoy a performance from Mitch Tambo and Voice of Lele. Parents are able to come and watch the performance. Afterwards, Year 6 and our First Nations Students, will experience a Yarning circle led by Mitch Tambo.
Mitch Tambo is Australia's unique and dynamic First Nations entertainer, renowned as "the new voice of our generation." His debut album "Guurrama-Li" topped charts worldwide. Mitch's powerful renditions of iconic songs, like 'You’re the Voice' at the historic Fire Fight Concert, showcase his commitment to preserving Gamilaraay language and culture. His electrifying pop single 'Yugal Yulu-gi' marked his tenth consecutive #1 iTunes Worldwide Chart success. Mitch has received two Golden Guitar Award nominations and passionately supports various social causes.
Voice of Lele
Lele is a remarkable individual—a refugee, singer, proud West Papuan woman, mother of four daughters, and the wife of Australian world music star, Mitch Tambo. She is also a passionate advocate for refugee women in Australia and a dedicated decolonisation activist.
Lele and her family, now residing in Melbourne, were granted refugee status after seeking safety in Australia in 1988.
Music has played a pivotal role in Lele's life from a young age, thanks to her late father, Agustinus Rumwaropen, a revered cultural song man. He not only influenced Lele's musical journey but also instilled in her the belief that she could share her culture and songs with the world. Agustinus Rumwaropen was the lead singer and composer of the Black Brothers Band, a group that not only filled stadiums across the Pacific and Indonesia but also paved the way for many other Melanesian artists.
As previously advised St Bede's has a more significant focus on students wearing the correct uniform. We ask parents for their support in ensuring that their child/ren are wearing the correct uniform. Some students have received a reminder letter about wearing the correct uniform. Thank you to parents and students for responding positively.
We ask that you pay particular consideration to the following:
1) ensuring that children do not wear shorts on normal uniform days.
2) wearing joggers on normal uniform days.
3) mixing elements of sport and normal uniform.
4) wearing non approved socks.
Please remember that the uniform shop is open from 8.30-9.30am on Friday morning or by appointment. Uniform items can also be ordered on Qkr!.
St Bede's would like to extend a massive thank you to Paul Calgaro for undertaking some concrete work in the recent holidays. We now have a pathway and landing outside of the Uniform Shop as well as an extended concrete area in the senior courtyard for Year 5/6 students to enjoy when eating their recess and lunch.
Thank you Paul for donating your time, expertise and materials for this project. It is appreciated.

Our youngest teams (Doves, Ducks, Bimbi & Rosellas) have Court Set Up as well as Canteen duty this weekend. Team Managers will be requesting help with these tasks – thank you in advance.
The photos have arrived back and Jenny will distribute to teams shortly. It’s not too late to purchase the photo if you are yet to do so, but please select and pay for the ‘postage option’ as now they will be sent directly to you.
Good luck to all this Saturday, especially to our Albatross who are taking on the top team!
