St Bede's staff members recognised in Catholic Education Excellence Awards 2024
Two St Bede's staff members were awarded in this year's Faith in Learning Catholic Education Excellence Awards, announced on 8 August.
Middle Leader Award - Breen Fox
(Assistant Principal and Kindergarten Teacher)
Breen received this award for providing high quality leadership, expertise and coordination in her roles, for being proactive in her pastoral care and influencing others in the faith life of our school.
Early Career Teacher Award - Lisa Wright
(Year 1 Blue Teacher)
Lisa received this award for applying high-impact, evidence-based teaching practice, contributing to a knowledge sharing and collaboration culture, using assessment practices to inform decisions to improve student learning and engaging with parents in their child's learning.
Congratulations to Breen and Lisa! We are honoured to have you at St Bede's.
Special mention goes to all our nominees. St Bede's was nominated for five award categories!
Each year St Bede's surveys our school community in search of feedback as a part of our cycle of continuous improvement. The survey window will open on Monday 5 August. The data collected is utilised to assist in setting the direction and Annual Improvement Plan of our school. Data is also shared via the Annual Report that is constructed each year. This is shared on our website.
We value the feedback from parents, students and staff. Not only are we in search of affirmation in relation to the things that we are doing well. We are actively seeking constructive feedback that informs us of what our community believe we could improve. Please be open and honest, yet constructive with your feedback.
Students - Years 4, 5 and 6
Students in Years 4, 5 and 6 will undertake the survey during class time. These surveys are anonymous and allow students to select from multiple choice questions and open ended questions.
Parents- All grades
Parents will receive a Compass message that outlines the survey and provided a link to access the survey. Only one parent is invited to complete the survey, however, more than one parent per houshold can if desired. These surveys are anonymous.
Staff- All St Bede's staff
All of our teachers and support staff have the opportunity to complete the survey. This is anonymous.
As previously advised St Bede's has a more significant focus on students wearing the correct uniform. We ask parents for their support in ensuring that their child/ren are wearing the correct uniform. Some students have received a reminder letter about wearing the correct uniform. Thank you to parents and students for responding positively.
We ask that you pay particular consideration to the following:
1) ensuring that children do not wear shorts on normal uniform days.
2) wearing joggers on normal uniform days.
3) mixing elements of sport and normal uniform.
4) wearing non approved socks.
Please remember that the uniform shop is open from 8.30-9.30am on Friday morning or by appointment. Uniform items can also be ordered on Qkr!.
National Science Week 10 - 18 August 2024
St Bede’s will celebrate National Science Week next week with special activities across K-6, led by our own in-house Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Teacher, Ben Macintyre.
The 2024 school theme is Species Survival – More Than Just Sustainability, which explores some of the critical challenges facing human, animal and plant populations.
National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology, with more than 1000 events around Australia. Find a local event to ‘talk science, see science or do science’ by checking out the National Science Week events in the ACT.
Assumption Mass - Thursday 15 August, 2pm
St Bede's will mark the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on 15 August with a Mass in the school hall. The Mass will be held from 2.00pm - 3.00pm and will be hosted by Year 2 Gold.
Parents and carers are welcome to attend.
South Weston Track and Field Championships
On Thursday 22nd August St Bede's are hosting the South Weston Track and Field Championships at Woden Park. Students from Years 2 to 6 will be competing. We are still in need of volunteers for the canteen that St Bede's is running. Our Canteen Manager will be running the canteen on the day but we are in desperate need of helpers. Parents from all year levels are encouraged to volunteer for an hour if they are available.
