Principal's Message- ST BEDE’S IS PROUDLY CATHOLIC!
“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you” Philippians 4:9
As we reach the middle of another fantastic term here at St Bede’s, it’s a great time to think about what makes our school special. Our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re dedicated to helping our students grow both academically and spiritually, living out the values of our faith every day.
At St Bede’s, we place a strong emphasis on our Catholic faith. This term, our students have been actively involved in spiritual activities. Our regular liturgies and masses provide wonderful opportunities for reflection and community connection. For example, our Year 2 Blue students recently organised a beautiful service focusing on fathers. Next week, Kindergarten and Year 1 will have an exciting excursion to the Cathedral with Fr Trenton.
We often hear from parents who appreciate our focus on Catholic values like compassion, respect, and justice. Just last week, I had the pleasure of speaking to Year 1 students about the parable of the Good Samaritan and the importance of doing good. It’s wonderful to see how students, staff, and parents at St Bede’s embody these values through their acts of kindness and community service. This was further demonstrated with volunteers at the South Western Athletics Carnival.
Our Catholic social teaching encourages us to act with fairness and charity. Late last term, our school rallied together to support the Vinnies Winter Appeal, and Year 5 and 6 students helped out during the Year 3 and 4 Spirituality Day. These efforts reflect our commitment to social justice and making a positive impact on the world.
In a little over a month, members of our Archdiocese will meet in the form of an Archdiocesan Assembly. This Archdiocesan Assembly will be focused on celebrating the Year of the Holy Spirit, whilst also exploring new opportunities for evangelisation and synodality in the life and mission of our Church. There are opportunities to be involved.
In our daily lives, we strive to follow Christ’s teachings through our actions. As St. Paul says in his letter to the Philippians, “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:9). This reminds us to apply our faith in all aspects of our lives, whether at school, on the playground, or at home.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in fostering both the academic and spiritual growth of our students. Together, let’s keep working to create a nurturing environment where every child at St Bede’s can thrive.
Regards
Andrew
