As we begin to emerge from the long and cold Canberra winter, our blooming tulips provide a beacon of hope. As we near the end of this term, our abundant garden also serves as a poignant reminder of resilience. Just as these flowers push through the soil to reach the sunlight, we too can find the strength to persevere, even when we feel tired and worn out.
Spring signifies the Aboriginal season of Djilba (early Spring). Djilba is described as a ‘transitional time of the year’ when yellow and cream flowers start blooming. Djilba is a real mixed bag from very cold and clear days to warmer, rainy and windy days. This is a reminder for our students to dress for all kinds of weather! It’s also the season to watch out for ‘swooping birds’ - particularly the Koolbardi (Magpie).
This time of year can sometimes be challenging, surrounded by illness and fatigue, but it also offers an opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come and to draw inspiration from the beauty around us. As our dedicated teachers prepare interim reports, we acknowledge their hard work and commitment to providing valuable feedback, crucial in helping our students grow and succeed. We also reflect on the growth of our current Kindergarten students as we prepare for our 2025 Kindy-Set-Go students, early next term. It’s hard to believe that the journey all began one year ago!
Our tulips also bring a message of unity and positivity. Each flower contributes to a beautiful and diverse garden, just as each member of our school community plays a vital role in creating a supportive and enriching environment. Our parent community and volunteers are busily organising the disco tonight, providing the opportunity for our students to gather socially and let their hair down. Our sporting coaches and manages wrap up another season and Year 6 parents have begun planning for graduation at the end of the year. The P&F working group are preparing for our Bogan Bingo event in Term 4 and students are eagerly fundraising for the Colour Run on the last day of Term 3. Together, we can achieve great things!
We are a bouquet of St Bede’s spirit.
Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
