Welcome back to Term 4!
Good news, Pope Francis has released a new encyclical called ‘Fratelli Tutti’, on Fraternity and Social Friendship. A central theme of this document is human dignity. This document reflects the Good Samaritan in our lives and on a global scale. You can read it here: http://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/encyclicals/documents/papa-francesco_20201003_enciclica-fratelli-tutti.html
Mission Month - St Bede’s Sock it to Poverty Day Friday, 30 October
October is Mission Month and it is an opportunity for students to engage with developing world issues and raise awareness about those who are less fortunate than ourselves. We will be holding a combined fund raiser for Catholic Mission and the Year 6 Graduation.
Here’s how the day will work:
Morning Session: Soccer challenges and games (using sockballs) ‘Sock it to Poverty’.
Middle Session: All Saints Mass led by our Year 4 Students.
Afternoon Session: Our Year 6 Leaders will provide a range of fun activities and games for all students.
Cost/donation: $10 per child can be paid through Qkr! App.
Dress: Free uniform.
All Saints Mass
Normally celebrated on November 1, this mass will be held on Friday October 30, led by our wonderful Year 4 Students and their teachers. All Saint’s Day is an opportunity for us to remember saints who have been recognised by the Catholic Church.
Blessings,
Nikki Dwyer
Book Week and Fair will be held next week from Monday 19 to Wednesday 21 October. The theme this year is Curious Creatures and Wild Minds.
The fair will be cashless and parents are able to purchase vouchers online on Qkr!. You can buy as many $10.00 vouchers as you would like and students will be issued with a voucher equivalent to the amount you spend.
There will also be a range of posters, stationary items and other low cost extras to make up the balance of your voucher.
On Wednesday 21 October, we will be holding our annual Book Parade and we would love to see all students come to school on the day dressed up as a character from their favourite book!
This week all students have had the opportunity to visit the Life Education Van.
Kgn and Year 1 students have learnt about friendship. Year 2 have explored safety rules. Year 3 became Cyberwise and Year 4 learnt some new things about medicines and drugs and their safe use. Year 5 and 6 have become great decision makers.
