Mission fundraiser postponed until Tuesday 3 November!
Due to the beautiful rain God has blessed us with over the past couple of weeks, we thought it safer to move our fundraiser to a day predicted to give us a little bit of sunshine. With so many of the fete activities being outside it would be a shame to spoil the fun with wind and storms predicted in the afternoon tomorrow. Our Mission fundraiser will now take place next Tuesday. Therefore, on Friday please ensure children wear their usual school or sports uniform. They can wear casual uniform on the Tuesday 3 November and take part in the planned activities.
Good news is that our All Saints Mass will still go ahead on Friday. Although we cannot yet invite family and friends to attend, it will be a nice opportunity for the students to gather as a community.
As I mentioned briefly last fortnight, Fratelli Tutti, an Encyclical Letter written by Pope Francis offers us a great deal of wisdom and guidance. This week I want to share with you a prayer from this document that is relevant to Catholic Mission. It highlights respect for difference and the human family.
A Prayer to the Creator
Lord, Father of our human family,
you created all human beings equal in dignity:
pour forth into our hearts a fraternal spirit
and inspire in us a dream of renewed encounter,
dialogue, justice and peace.
Move us to create healthier societies
and a more dignified world,
a world without hunger, poverty, violence and war.
May our hearts be open
to all the peoples and nations of the earth.
May we recognise the goodness and beauty
that you have sown in each of us,
and thus forge bonds of unity, common projects,
and shared dreams. Amen.

Fratelli tutti (3 October 2020) | Francis
ENCYCLICAL LETTER FRATELLI TUTTI OF THE HOLY FATHER FRANCIS ON FRATERNITY AND SOCIAL FRIENDSHIP . 1. “FRATELLI TUTTI”. With these words, Saint Francis of Assisi addressed his brothers and sisters and proposed to them a way of life marked by the flavour of the Gospel.

A really fun night was held last Friday at the P&F function at the Canberra Deakin Football Club. Just under $3,000.00 was raised. A great effort by all involved!!
Great job and thanks to Doug Thorne for being the MC and Auctioneer.
Thank you to Ben Davies for gathering all the prizes and a huge thanks to all those who donated prizes, attended the night and assisted in many ways.
World Teacher's Day - Friday 30 October
Friday 30 October is World Teacher's Day. It is a day to be proud of and celebrate our wonderful teachers.
The P&F is very kindly supplying morning tea on Friday for all the teachers and staff at St Bede's. We thank them very much for this very generous gesture and their support.
Children's Week 25 - 31 October 2020
What is Children’s Week?
Children’s Week is an annual event celebrated around Universal Children’s Day, designated in Australia as the fourth Wednesday in October.
Children’s Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities. A diverse range of events and activities are organised at National, State and Local levels. These focus the attention of the wider community on children, their needs and achievements.
Thousands of children and their families around the country are involved in activities and events during Children’s Week through the participation of schools, playgroups, childcare, kindergartens, cultural groups, libraries, government departments and community groups. Programs and activities are open to all children regardless of race, colour, sex and ability.
This Year’s Focus
CHILDREN’S WEEK 2020 NATIONAL FOCUS
“Children have the right to meet with other children and young people and to join groups and organisations as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights.“
This fits naturally with the concept of community, living and working together for the benefit of our children and young people. It highlights both the rights and the responsibilities around children and young people interacting together respectfully.
