RESPECT
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12
Respect is not merely a rule to follow, it's a guiding principle that shapes the very fabric of our school community. As you are aware, Respect was adopted as a core value of St Bede’s in 2023. It's about recognising the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, regardless of differences in background, beliefs, or abilities.
In our classrooms and on the playground, respect must always be our compass. It's reflected in the way we speak to one another, the way we listen, the way we work and the way we engage. When we respect each other, we create an environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and supported. St Bede’s students show an enormous amount of respect for each other.
Our Walk in Love & Peace Awards are presented each week in 2024. These awards are presented to one student from each class that lives and demonstrates our school values.
Respect is the cornerstone of our interactions, guiding us to treat others as we would like to be treated. In Matthew 7:12, we find this timeless principle: "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." Let's embody this wisdom daily, extending kindness, empathy, and understanding to all. Together, let's continue to cultivate a culture of respect that enriches our school community and beyond.
Just as these virtues are encouraged in the Bible, we encourage our students to embrace them in their daily lives. Respect means valuing each person's uniqueness, listening attentively, and treating others with kindness and empathy.
At St Bede’s, we show respect when:
- We talk and care for each other
- We sit and have lunch together
- We listen to whoever is speaking
- We allow everyone to learn
- We invite people to join in games
- Spend time with our buddies
- We follow the rules
- We listen to our teachers and our parents
Regards
Andrew
Thank you to the families that have enrolled for 2025. This assists our school in preparation for the official enrolment period.
2025
Families with siblings due to start school in 2025 are asked to complete the online enrolment form via our website. Please note that zoning is not an issue for families with a child already at St Bede's.
Parents are asked to recommend and encourage enrolments for Kindergarten 2025. Families within Red Hill, Griffith, Yarralumla, Deakin, Barton, Forrest and Hume are asked to enrol via our school website. Should you know of a family outside of these zones, please ask them to book a meeting via the school website or contact the office to arrange a time to discuss enrolments.
2024
We still have availability to accept new students in Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 6. Should you know of any families looking to relocate to Canberra or wanting a new schooling option, please ask them to contact the school.
Reminder: Dogs are prohibited on school grounds
Under Department of Urban Services policies, dogs are not permitted on school grounds. Dogs are also prohibited within 10 metres of anything designed for play by children in a public place if children are playing on it. Our adherence to the policy is not only about keeping our school grounds safe but supporting students who have a genuine fear of dogs.
Thank you for your acknowledgement and support.
