Principal's Message- The Good Leader
THE GOOD LEADER
“Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant” Matthew 20:26
At St Bede's Primary School, student leadership plays a vital role in shaping a positive and supportive school environment. Leadership is about service, responsibility, and making a difference, and this week, students had the opportunity to vote for key leadership positions, including School Captain, Student Council leaders, and Sports House leaders. This process helps foster a sense of community, democracy, and collaboration, encouraging students to take ownership of their school and actively participate in its development. Congratulations to our new leaders and well done to all who presented a speech.
The scripture reference above reflects the values of leadership at St Bede’s. This verse highlights the idea that true leadership is not about seeking power, but about serving others with humility and grace. It reminds students that leadership is rooted in helping others, being a positive role model, and putting the needs of others before one's own desires. We see these values in our current school leaders as they serve our school community.
This week’s elections were an excellent example of these principles in action. Students voted for School Captain, who will be responsible for representing the student body, leading school assemblies, and inspiring others with their actions. The Student Council leaders will play an important role in voicing the concerns and ideas of their peers, while the Sports House leaders will encourage team spirit, fairness, and a love for sport.
These roles require leaders to embody key values such as respect, honesty, responsibility, and teamwork. Good student leaders act as role models, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive school culture. They listen to the needs of their classmates, inspire others to do their best, and take responsibility for their actions. Strong leadership helps build a positive school environment where all students feel valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.
As we reflect on leadership, we look to Jesus as the ultimate example. He taught us that true leadership comes from serving others with humility, compassion, and love. Jesus led by example, showing us how to put the needs of others first, forgive generously, and seek justice for all. As we nurture our students’ leadership skills, we encourage them to follow in His footsteps leading with integrity, kindness, and a servant heart. Let us support our children in becoming leaders who mirror the values of Christ, making a positive impact in their communities.
In the end, student leadership at St Bede’s is about more than just titles. It’s about making a difference in the lives of others, living out Christ’s call to serve, and fostering a community of care and respect.
Regards
Andrew

We would like to inform you that Catholic Education are considering the introduction of a new fee that may be added to the school fees to support building and capital works projects within the school system. This fee will be allocated towards enhancing and maintaining our school facilities. This fee is a compulsory fee that replaces the voluntary building contribution.
Details of the fee will be provided once it has been finalised by Catholic Education, and we will ensure you are notified in advance of any changes to your fee schedule. I believe it will be approximately $300 in 2025 and will increase in 2026 and 2027. The fee will be charged each term and will be itemised on your fee statement.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Parent Conferences will be held from Monday 2 December to Wednesday 4 December. These meetings are optional in Term 4 and can be made via the Compass Parent Portal. Session bookings are open. To book a session, please click on more and navigate to Conferences. If you are unable to schedule a time, please contact your classroom teacher via email.
If you met in Week 4 or Week 6 with the class teacher and Mrs Elliott, there is no need to book another meeting session.

School fees were payable by Friday 15 November and are now overdue. As the end of the year is very close and we are trying to finalise our accounts, we would appreciate parents paying their fees as soon as possible. Please contact the office or Andrew directly if meeting this deadline is an issue. We would particularly ask that those families leaving St Bede's at the conclusion of 2024, pay any outstanding fees prior to leaving.
On Thursday 28 November at 1.00pm, Year 4 to 6 will be presenting their drama performance and we all invite parents and grandparents to come along and watch the show.
A lot of hard work by the students and the teachers has gone into the show and it is bound to be great!
Christmas accessories - not quite yet!
Just a reminder that it is not quite time for Christmas accessories yet and Santa hats do not replace school hats. Students are invited to wear a touch of Christmas, such as small earrings, headbands, Santa hats, socks, reindeer antlers, etc. in Week 9. We do ask that all students refrain from wearing these accessories to the End-of-Year Mass on Wednesday 11 December. Thank you for your assistance with maintaining school uniform until the end of term.
